In 2004, the IMC Leadership Team started the company on a transformative journey of well-being. The introduction of Diamond Day signified the rebirth of IMC, embracing a new direction for sustaining the business.

Diamond Day is a time of reflection, to evolve in the direction of challenges and to create systems that encourage the company to flourish.

This year’s Diamond Day was our first in-person Diamond Day since Covid-19. The pandemic has been tough for all of us. However, one good thing that came out of Covid-19 is the global compassion that emerged as humanity learned to help each other through the crisis. The lesson we learned is that we can come out of trials and tribulations with hope, by adopting a Life-View — with love and passion for Life and understanding how integrated we are with all Life.

The day kicked off with a recap of key milestones in the region since the last celebration, followed by top management addressing the team. Newly appointed Head of the CCC Council, Singapore, Dexter, also shared his new role and the direction moving forward. Dr. Kathirasan K, Founder CEO of the Centre of Mindfulness, led a Mindfulness Moment Practice, highlighting the importance of mindfulness in living a mindful life. Then, our Chairman Chavalit Frederick Tsao encouraged us to face the challenges without fear:

“We always evolved towards challenge. The magnitude of this challenge, the development of AI informs us [that] we could create a new era, a new civilization that can really move to focus on development and creativity. And fear not, because we’re made to do that.

“I urge you not to be fearful because in fear you only see risk which will neutralize you. Only in no fear or even passion and love for life, you can see opportunities. I have been reflecting a lot [on what] helped me.”

The questions we were confronted with were the same ones that Chairman had been reflecting on during Covid and we joined to participate from all around the world.

In Singapore, the highlight of the day was a facilitated small group discussion of Exploration of Life Questions while practicing Mindful eating together. During the debrief in plenary, several colleagues bravely shared their life journeys, which were so touching that many shed tears and gave comforting hugs. The day ended with cake cutting and photos to commemorate the event.

Over in Thailand, Unithai and CUEL Management joined our Diamond Day celebrations where Dr Skultip Sirikantraporn led the mindfulness session and the 8 questions workshop.

Staff from Jakarta, Samarinda, and IMC Plantation’s estate staff in East Kalimantan mirrored what we experienced and at the end of the day, they donated reading books and financial aid to a community-based learning center for kids on the outskirts of Jakarta.

Throughout the day, all of us shared one thing in common – we look forward to the breakthroughs we will experience as a company in the coming year!
