We’ve had a busy Q2 at IMC Shipping, representing Singapore, and participating in the shipping world’s premier trade events, Sea Asia 2023 and Nor-Shipping 2023.

Held in conjunction with Singapore Maritime Week (SMW), Sea Asia 2023 welcomed international and local attendees from over 90 countries and regions. As an exhibitor in the Singapore Pavilion, we hosted hundreds of visitors at our booth, including a delegation from Rotterdam here on a trade mission to focus on smart and sustainable shipping.

Our MD of Ship Services, Mingfa Liu, took the stage with industry heavyweights such as Synergy’s Captain Rajesh Unni, at an SMW panel session, discussing how shipping is a very cost-effective and reliable part of the global supply chain.

“At the centre of this is the data,” said Mingfa, “when it comes to data analysis, other industries are much more advanced in this than shipping. But this exposes the huge potential in the landscape and the extent of the opportunities ahead.”

We continued building momentum at Nor-Shipping 2023 in Oslo, Norway. In addition to forging stronger ties with industry mates, we had the distinct honour of hosting Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport, Mr Hong Tat Chee and HE Eivind S. Homme, Norway’s Ambassador to Singapore at our booth at Nova Spektrum.

Another highlight of Nor-Shipping 2023 was the “Singapore & Norway: An Ocean of Opportunities” seminar organised by the Singapore Norway Chamber of Commerce (SNCC) in partnership with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF), Nor-Shipping, Innovation Norway and the Norwegian Business Association Singapore (NBAS). Frederik Guttormsen, MD of Shipping, was joined by senior representatives from industry giants, Klaveness, Wilhelmsen, Seatrium and more to explore the unique challenges and opportunities that decarbonisation and digitalisation present to their organisations and the shipping industry.

As Frederik shared, everyone has to be part of the solution and it is collective action throughout the supply and value chains that will fuel and propel the shipping industry to a sustainable future.
