OCTAVE Institute supported IMC to conduct its second Management Trainees’ Assessment Centre (AC) on 29 May. Learning from recent experiences, we worked collaboratively to conduct the AC within half a day.

With the active participation of P&O business partners and business leaders, close to 40 applicants were interviewed before 15 were eventually selected to participate in the AC. We welcomed successful candidates to the Management Trainees’ Programme in July.

Attesting to the positive outcome of the “I to We” process of co-creating this AC experience is some of the feedback from our AC participants:

“I enjoyed the holistic approach the company adopted for the Assessment Centre and I was able to get an idea of what the company culture is like, which made me feel comfortable throughout the entire process”.

“I had a learning experience in IMC, in my interview with Mr Peter Wong, he mentioned how mindfulness is a very big aspect of IMC. I was impressed to see how it was put into play here, especially with the importance given to mental health. I think the activities were very interesting and overall was able to showcase how life would be like if given the opportunity to join this programme”.

“I enjoyed the entire experience especially with the well-being being implemented in the process. It was great interacting with people from such diverse backgrounds and skill sets. The Ethical Dilemma presented was thought-provoking with different viewpoints leading to different decisions however based on certain assumptions my team made, we were able to come to a consensus. I really liked how everyone was willing to accept alternate viewpoints and listen to what others had to say. Given the non-technical nature of the case, everyone was able to be themselves without knowledge acting as a barrier. Overall, I felt the entire team performed well with different people taking charge in different situations”.
