A team of PT IMC Pelita Logistik Tbk (PLog) employees from the Samarinda branch office donated their money and effort towards the revitalisation and restoration program of the Karang Mumus River last month, helping to revive a lifeline of the community.
The Karang Mumus River is an integral part of the Mahakam River, the largest river in the East Kalimantan province and one of the main water transportation routes for the community. The water quality was reported to have been deteriorating due to pollution from an increasing amount of household waste.
The PLog team embarked on clean-up efforts by cruising down the river using a traditional motorboat, canvassing an area of about 13 km to fill 6 large bags with waste. Plant seeds were then sown around the river bank.
Additionally, the team made valuable contributions in the form of cash donations, 50 plant seeds, and essential motorboat engine parts to support future cleanup endeavours.
This initiative exemplifies PLog’s unwavering commitment to breathing new life into both the environment and the community to foster sustainable growth.
